For theatermakers and theatre lovers, this workshop presents live reads of new or seldom-produced plays.
Presented three times a year, guest directors choose works and actors to present in live readings. Post-presentation includes audience discussion.
----------------------
On April 19 we presented David Harrower's "Blackbird" guest directed by Widge Yager and starring Shawn Nyberg, Amber Dickinson, and Bebe Reilly at ArtsConnect in NOTO. Well-received the post-performance audience discussion was rich and important to the experience of the show.
A disturbing drama of criminal love., Blackbird depicts a young woman meeting a middle-aged man fifteen years after being sexually abused by him when she was twelve. An Olivier Award tale, it reveals dark emotions that blur boundaries, leaving us wondering who is right and who is wrong.
Watch for our next New Chamber Theatre performance in September.
